I committed the next year to playing Legion mostly! And have a tournament coming up so I got some practice in with the pairing I decided on taking. It was Abby2 in Oracles and Fyanna2 in Children. The lists were: Abby2 with 3 angelii, a seraph, a neraph, 3 shepherds, a forsaken, 3 spell martyrs, a sorceress on hellion, and a max unit of hex hunters with bayal. This was paired with Fyanna2 with Azrael, a Soldier, 3 shredders, Anyssa Ryvaal, max raptors, max hex hunters, and max legionnaires with captain farilor and standard.
I played 2 games today. Both were against Butcher1 in Legion of Steel. The list was: Butcher, a war dog, Ruin, a Juggernaut, a Kodiak, Skirova, 2 kovniks, Markov, Great Bears, full IFP with UA, and full Black Dragons with UA.
Game 1 was with Abby2. He won the roll off to go first, and chose to go first. I took the side I was on due to laziness. He deployed the IFP on my right, Black Dragons on my left,with Skirova on my left and a Kovnik on each flank.
I deployed an Angel on each flank, Abby went centrally with the seraph and an Angel. The sorceress went right and the support went behind equally.
Khador turn 1 was simple. Everything ran apart from butcher. Iron Flesh went on the Black Dragons, Fury went on the IFP and Vengeful went on Ruin.
Legion 1 was more eventful! The Hex Hunters went first, apparating thanks to the theme, and killing off 3 Black Dragons with Hex Bolts. Abby went next and slipstreamed the Seraph, which allowed it to kill 2 more black dragons. The rest of the army ran, staying outside of charge ranges.
Khador 2: Black Dragons charged the Hex Hunters. They killed 1. Sophia and the Kovniks charged them too. They missed. The Kodik charged the Hex Hunters, and killed 1. The other Jacks ran. Butcher1 advanced and put Iron Flesh on the Iron Fangs. Markov ran through some rough terrain to be more relevant. The Iron Fangs minfeated and advanced up.
Legion 2: A Spell Martyr ran up and baited out a countercharge from a Great Bear. The Sorc on Hellion dropped the AoE on the Iron Fangs. This let The Hex Hunters clear out about half of them, alongside a bunch of Black Dragons. An Angel charged up and Armour Pierced the Kodiak. It got countercharged by the other great bears and lost the spirit. The Armour pierce did moderate damage, but didnt cripple anything. The Seraph cleared out more Black Dragons and Kovniks, by charging! Abby channelled a Hex Bolt to kill a Black Dragon and walked up and killed another. She repo-ed back to safety, after feating. An Angel charged the Juggernaut and killed it. This turned out to be important! On the other side, the Angel and Neraph finished off the Iron Fang Pikemen, barring one.
Khador 3: This was a Butcher feat turn! He allocated, upkept and cast full throttle. He then charged an Angel. He missed it. Butcher charged the seraph in the back. He didnt kill it. The Kodiak tried killing the angel, which was engaging two Great Bears. He failed, this saved my Neraph and Angel on that flank. Markov then went into the middle angel and killed it. But the angel engaging butcher survived!
Legion 3: Stuff apparated. Threshold checks went poorly this turn. The Angel engaging Butcher frenzied, putting 4 damage onto him.(This too was important.) The Neraph frenzied onto the sorceress on hellion, killing her.The Hex Hunters kept on Shadow Binding stuff, as they did all game, with Bayal knocking down one of the tough great bears. Abby charged a Pikeman on the right zone, killing him. She took a free strike to do so, taking 2 damage. She then cast a Hex Bolt onto the last one, freeing that zone so I scored, then repo-ed further into it. A Shepherd ran to engage the Great Bears. Finally, The second Angel charged the Kodiak, crippling an arm, and doing little else.
Khador 4: Butcher and the jacks tried killing the angel engaging him. They failed. HE LIVED! The Great Bears and Kodiak(with one good arm) killed the angel, Bayal, and the shepherd.
Legion 5: The last remaining Hex Hunters apparated about. The Forsaken walked up and blight bombed with 5 fury. She killed one of the Great Bears who Bayal left on one wound. Then Abby charged in, killing the last one, and triggering alpha hunter. Then she cast Psycho Surgery, healing the angel engaging Butcher for 3 damage. Then all that was left was for the Angel to AP butcher in the face, with boosted damage, which left him on one box. Then boost and boost the last attack into him, which led to a failed tough roll which gave me the game!
I also played a game with Fyanna2 vs the same list, I'll write that up in a separate article!
